Installation & Setup

Unpack all parts from the box. Ensure you have the base unit, water tank, wick filter, and user manual.

  1. Choose Location: Place on a flat, level, waterproof surface at least 12 inches from walls and furniture.
  2. Install Wick Filter: Remove filter from packaging and insert into the filter frame in the base. Ensure it is seated properly.
  3. Fill the Tank: Remove tank from base. Unscrew cap, fill with cool, clean tap or distilled water (distilled recommended to reduce mineral buildup). Replace cap securely.
  4. Assemble: Place filled tank back onto the base, aligning it properly.
  5. Power: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not use with damaged cord or plug. Do not place under shelves or where moisture can cause damage. Always use two hands when carrying a full tank.

First-Time Use

After setup, follow these steps to begin operation.

  1. Power On: Plug in the unit. The unit will be off.
  2. Set Humidity: Turn the humidistat control knob to your desired setting (e.g., 40-50% relative humidity is often comfortable).
  3. Adjust Mist: The fan speed will automatically adjust based on the humidistat setting. You can manually turn the knob to "High" for maximum output or "Low" for quiet operation.
  4. Direct Mist: Adjust the 360-degree mist outlet away from walls, furniture, and electronics.

CAUTION! Never add hot water or additives (like oils) to the tank. Only use clean, cool water. Ensure the tank cap is tight to prevent leaks.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

The primary control is the humidistat knob on the base unit.

Knob Positions:
OFF: Unit is powered but fan is off.
LOW (Quiet): Lower fan speed for minimal noise.
HIGH: Maximum mist output.
Humidistat Setting (1-10 or %): Turn to a number or percentage to set your desired room humidity level. The unit will cycle on and off to maintain this level.

Indicator Light: The Filter Change light will illuminate when the wick filter needs replacement (typically after 30 days of use, depending on water hardness).

Automatic Features: The unit will automatically shut off if the water tank is empty or improperly seated.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning prevents mold, mineral buildup, and ensures efficient operation.

  1. Frequency: Clean the tank and base every 1-2 weeks, or more often in hard water areas.
  2. Unplug & Empty: Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Empty any remaining water.
  3. Clean Tank: Wash tank with a mild detergent and warm water. Use a soft brush to clean interior. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Clean Base: Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. For interior base reservoir, use a mixture of 1 cup white vinegar and 1 gallon water to soak and dissolve mineral deposits. Scrub gently, rinse well.
  5. Dry Completely: Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling and refilling.

WARNING! Never immerse the base unit, motor, or electrical parts in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or ammonia.

Replacing the Filter

The wick filter should be replaced every 30-60 days, or when the Filter Change light is on, or if it appears heavily coated with minerals.

  1. Unplug the humidifier and remove the water tank.
  2. Remove the old filter from the filter frame in the base.
  3. Insert the new Honeywell HCM-530F replacement filter. Do not touch the filter material with oily hands.
  4. Reassemble the tank and base. The filter change light may need to be reset by unplugging the unit for 60 seconds and plugging it back in.

Tip: Using distilled water can extend filter life. Always have a spare filter on hand.

Storage Instructions

If not using for an extended period (e.g., summer months):

  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Completely empty and clean the tank and base as described in the Cleaning section.
  3. Remove and discard the old wick filter.
  4. Allow all parts to dry completely for at least 24 hours.
  5. Reassemble the unit without a filter or store parts separately in a cool, dry place.
  6. Do not store with water in the tank.
