Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential for performance and hygiene.

  1. Daily: Refill with fresh, cool water. Wipe exterior with a soft, damp cloth.
  2. Weekly: Clean the water tank. Empty any remaining water. Fill tank with 1 cup white vinegar and rest with clean water. Let sit 20 minutes, scrub interior with soft brush, rinse thoroughly.
  3. Bi-Weekly (or as needed): Check and clean the base. Unplug unit, remove tank and filter. Wipe inside of base with a vinegar/water solution (1:1). Rinse and dry completely.
  4. Monthly: Replace the wick filter (HWF100) if it appears discolored, calcified, or has reduced output. Soak new filter 15-20 min before installing.
  5. UV Chamber: No user serviceable parts. The UV bulb is designed for the life of the product under normal use.

WARNING! Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Never immerse base, control panel, or power cord in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals.

UV Technology

The UV chamber uses ultraviolet light to treat water as it passes through the system before evaporation.

Note: UV treatment is a supplement to, not a replacement for, regular cleaning and use of fresh water.

Care & Storage

When not in use for an extended period (e.g., summer months), prepare unit for storage.

  1. Unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.
  2. Empty and thoroughly clean the water tank and base as described in the Cleaning section. Allow all parts to air dry completely.
  3. Remove the wick filter and discard it. Do not store the unit with a used wet filter installed.
  4. Store the unit and tank in a cool, dry place, preferably in the original box.
  5. Before next use, install a new wick filter and perform a cleaning cycle.

CAUTION! Never store with water in the tank. Mold and bacteria can grow and cause odors or damage.
