Specifications

Controls and Operation

Primary controls are located on the front of the base unit.

Humidistat Dial: Rotate to set desired humidity level. The unit will cycle on and off to maintain this level.

Mist Output Nozzle: Manually rotate 360 degrees to direct mist flow.

Indicator Light: Blue light indicates power and normal operation. Illuminates steadily when tank is empty.

Automatic Operation: Unit runs when humidity is below the set point and stops when reached. Shuts off automatically if tank is empty or removed.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning prevents mold and mineral buildup. Unplug the unit before any maintenance.

  1. Daily: Refill with fresh water. Do not let water sit for more than 2 days.
  2. Weekly Cleaning: Empty tank and base. Clean with a soft cloth and a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) to descale. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Deep Cleaning (Monthly): Disassemble tank and base. Soak removable parts in vinegar solution for 20 minutes. Scrub gently with a soft brush. Rinse all parts with clean water and air dry completely before reassembly.

CAUTION! Never immerse the motorized base in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or bleach.

Filter Replacement

The demineralization cartridge (Wicking Filter) should be replaced every 1-2 months, or when visibly discolored or clogged, to maintain efficiency and reduce white dust.

  1. Unplug the humidifier and remove the water tank.
  2. Locate the used filter in the base slot and pull it straight out.
  3. Insert the new filter into the slot, ensuring it is seated properly.
  4. Reassemble the tank and base. Run the unit for 15 minutes to saturate the new filter.

Note: Use only genuine Honeywell HCM-550 series replacement filters for optimal performance.

Safety Features

Automatic Shut-Off: Activates when the water tank is empty or improperly seated to prevent dry running and motor damage. Tip-Over Protection: Internal mechanism stops operation if unit is knocked over.
