Controls and Operation

Primary control is the Humidity Control Dial on the front of the base unit.

Operation: Turn dial clockwise to increase mist output (HIGH) and counter-clockwise to decrease (LOW). The unit will run continuously until the tank is empty or turned off.

Automatic Shut-Off: The humidifier will automatically turn off when the water tank is empty or if the tank is removed from the base. The power indicator light will remain on as long as the unit is plugged in.

Refilling: When the tank is empty, remove it, refill with cool water, and replace. The unit will resume operation if the dial is in the ON position.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning prevents mold and mineral buildup.

  1. Unplug the unit before any cleaning.
  2. Daily: Empty any remaining water from the tank and base. Rinse with clean water.
  3. Weekly Cleaning: Clean tank and base with a mixture of 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 gallon of water. Use a soft brush to scrub interior surfaces. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Drying: Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembly or storage.
  5. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

WARNING! Never immerse the base unit, motor, or electrical parts in water. Do not use bleach, detergents, or chemical cleaners.

Replacing the Filter

The wick filter should be replaced every 1-2 months, or more often in hard water areas or with continuous use.

  1. Unplug the humidifier and remove the water tank.
  2. Remove the old wick filter from the base.
  3. Soak the new filter (Model HWF220) in cool water for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Insert the soaked filter into the base, ensuring it sits flat and contacts the water.
  5. Reassemble the tank and base, then plug in the unit.

Tip: A dirty or clogged filter will reduce mist output and efficiency. Always use genuine Honeywell replacement filters.

Safety Features

Automatic Shut-Off: Activates when the water tank is empty or improperly seated, preventing the motor from running dry.

Tip-Over Protection: The unit is designed to stop mist output if tipped over.

Cool Mist Operation: No hot water or steam, making it safe for use around children and pets.

Care & Storage

When not in use for an extended period, prepare the humidifier for storage.

  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Empty and thoroughly clean the tank and base as described in the cleaning section.
  3. Remove and discard the used wick filter.
  4. Allow all parts to dry completely.
  5. Reassemble the unit and store in its original box in a cool, dry place.
  6. Install a new filter when preparing for next use.

CAUTION! Never store the unit with water in the tank or base, as this can promote mold and bacterial growth.
