Installation

Unpack and inspect all components. Ensure you have the necessary tools.

  1. Choose Location: Install on the warm-air supply duct of your forced-air heating system.
  2. Mount Bracket: Secure the mounting bracket to the duct using provided screws.
  3. Connect to Duct: Attach the humidifier to the bracket. Cut an opening in the duct for the bypass damper (if applicable).
  4. Water Connection: Connect the water supply line (1/4" copper tubing) to a cold water line. Install a saddle valve.
  5. Drain Connection: Connect the drain tube to a suitable drain or floor drain.
  6. Electrical: Plug the low-voltage transformer into a standard 120V outlet and connect wires to the humidifier control.

WARNING! Installation should be performed by a qualified technician. Turn off power and water supply before beginning. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial setup and testing.

  1. Power On: Turn on power at the outlet. The digital display should illuminate.
  2. Set Humidity: Use the UP/DOWN buttons to set your desired relative humidity (typically 35-45%).
  3. Test Operation: Turn on your furnace fan. The humidifier should activate if the humidity is below the set point.
  4. Check for Leaks: Inspect all water connections for any drips or leaks.
  5. Set Fan Control: Choose between "Fan" mode (runs with furnace fan) or "Auto" mode (runs only when furnace calls for heat).

CAUTION! Do not set humidity too high in cold weather, as condensation can form on windows. Refer to the built-in outdoor temperature chart for recommended settings.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access all functions via the Digital Control Panel.

Control Panel Buttons: POWER, HUMIDITY UP/DOWN, FAN (Fan/Auto mode select), RESET (for cleaning/maintenance alerts).

Display Icons: Current Humidity %, Set Humidity %, Fan Icon, Clean Icon, Water Panel Icon.

Settings:
Humidity Set Point: Adjust from 15% to 65% RH.
Fan Mode: Select "FAN" to run whenever the furnace blower is on, or "AUTO" to run only when heat is called for and humidity is low.
Off Season: Set humidity to 0% to shut off the unit during summer months.
Manual Override: Some models allow a test cycle to be initiated from the control panel.

Connecting to HVAC System

This is a bypass humidifier, meaning it uses air from the warm supply duct, passes it through a moistened wick, and returns it to the cold air return duct.

  1. Ensure furnace is OFF before making any duct connections.
  2. Install the bypass duct between the supply (hot) duct and the humidifier.
  3. Connect the humidifier's outlet to the return (cold) duct.
  4. Install the damper in the bypass duct to control airflow.
  5. Ensure the humidifier is level for proper water drainage.

Tip: The bypass duct should slope downward towards the humidifier to prevent condensation from running back into the supply duct.

Operation and Daily Use

The unit operates automatically based on the humidistat setting.

  1. Automatic Operation: Once set, the humidifier will turn on when the furnace runs and indoor humidity is below the set point.
  2. Water Flow: Water continuously trickles over the evaporative wick and drains out, minimizing mineral buildup.
  3. Seasonal Adjustment: Lower the humidity set point as outdoor temperatures drop to prevent window condensation.
  4. Shutting Down: For summer or extended non-use, set humidity to 0%, turn off the water supply valve, and unplug the unit.

WARNING! Use only clean, potable water. Do not use chemical additives or water softeners in the unit, as they can damage components.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance is crucial for efficient operation and longevity.

  1. Monthly: Inspect the drain line for clogs or restrictions.
  2. Seasonally (or when Clean Light is on):
    • Turn off water and power.
    • Remove the water panel (wick) and tray.
    • Clean all interior surfaces with a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution to remove scale.
    • Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
    • Reassemble.
  3. Annually (Before Heating Season): Replace the evaporative water panel (wick). Reset the Water Panel light.
  4. Drain Valve: Open the drain valve at the end of the season to empty any remaining water.

CAUTION! Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, or high-pressure water sprays.
