Installation

Unpack and inspect all components. Ensure furnace is off before beginning.

  1. Select Location: Mount on warm air plenum (supply duct) of furnace.
  2. Mount Bracket: Attach mounting bracket to plenum using sheet metal screws.
  3. Cut Opening: Cut hole in plenum for humidifier bypass duct.
  4. Install Bypass Duct: Connect duct between humidifier and return air duct.
  5. Connect Water Supply: Install saddle valve on cold water line; connect tubing to fill valve.
  6. Connect Drain: Attach drain hose to drain valve; route to floor drain.
  7. Wire Humidistat: Connect low-voltage wires to furnace transformer and humidifier solenoid.

WARNING! Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Ensure power is disconnected from furnace.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial setup and testing.

  1. Set Humidistat: Adjust to desired humidity level (typically 35-45%).
  2. Open Water Valve: Turn saddle valve to open water supply.
  3. Check for Leaks: Inspect all water connections for leaks.
  4. Test Operation: Turn furnace on; humidifier should activate when blower runs and humidity is below set point.
  5. Adjust Bypass Damper: Regulate airflow for optimal performance.

CAUTION! Do not set humidity too high to prevent condensation on windows.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control is the humidistat, typically wall-mounted.

Humidistat: Rotary dial or digital display. Set desired relative humidity (RH%). "OFF" position disables unit. "Test" mode runs unit for diagnostics.

Bypass Damper: Manual slide damper on bypass duct. Adjust for airflow; more open increases humidity output.

Water Panel Indicator: LED or mechanical flag shows when water panel needs replacement.

Connecting to HVAC System

Connects to furnace plenum and return air duct via bypass duct.

  1. Ensure furnace is off at circuit breaker.
  2. Mount humidifier on warm air (supply) plenum.
  3. Connect bypass duct between humidifier and return air duct.
  4. Connect 24V wires from humidistat to furnace transformer and humidifier solenoid valve.
  5. Connect water supply line and drain hose.

Tip: Ensure bypass duct slopes downward toward humidifier for proper condensate drainage.

Operation

Unit operates automatically when furnace blower is on and humidity is below set point.

  1. Set Desired Humidity: Adjust humidistat to target level (e.g., 40%).
  2. Automatic Cycle: When furnace runs, humidistat checks humidity. If low, it opens water valve and water flows over panel; air from furnace evaporates water, adding moisture to air.
  3. Excess Water Drain: Un-evaporated water flows down panel and out drain hose.
  4. Shut-off: When humidity reaches set point or furnace blower stops, water valve closes.

WARNING! Do not operate without proper drain connection. Ensure drain hose is not kinked.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug or disconnect power before servicing. Use mild detergent and water for cleaning; never use harsh chemicals.

CAUTION! Mineral deposits can be cleaned with white vinegar solution. Rinse thoroughly. Do not use abrasives.
