Regular cleaning prevents mold and mineral buildup.

  1. Unplug the unit and empty all water.
  2. Disassemble: Remove water tank, demineralization cartridge, and any removable parts from the base.
  3. Clean: Wash all parts with mild soap and warm water. Use a soft brush for the tank interior and base. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Descale (if needed): For mineral deposits, use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1), soak for 20 minutes, then rinse.
  5. Dry all parts completely before reassembly.
  6. Reinstall the demineralization cartridge and refill with clean water.

CAUTION! Never immerse the base unit in water. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, or detergents. Clean at least once a week during regular use.

Replacing the Demineralization Cartridge

The cartridge reduces white dust and should be replaced periodically.

  1. Turn off and unplug the humidifier.
  2. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water.
  3. Locate the cartridge slot in the base. Remove the old cartridge.
  4. Insert a new Honeywell Demineralization Cartridge (Model DC-20) into the slot until it clicks into place.
  5. Reassemble the tank and base. The cartridge typically lasts 1-2 months depending on water hardness and usage.

Note: Using the humidifier without a cartridge or with an expired cartridge may increase white dust output.
