Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential for performance and to prevent microbial growth.

  1. Daily: Refill with fresh water. Do not let water sit in tank for extended periods.
  2. Weekly: Clean the tank and base. Unplug the unit. Empty any remaining water.
  3. Clean the tank with a mild detergent and a soft brush or cloth. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Wipe the base interior and exterior with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the base in water.
  5. Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling.
  6. Monthly/As Needed: Descale if mineral deposits (white dust) appear. Use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1), soak affected parts for 20 minutes, then scrub and rinse.
  7. Replace the filter (if equipped) every 1-2 months or as indicated by the filter light.

CAUTION! Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Never use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or harsh chemicals.

Water Treatment

Using distilled or demineralized water is recommended to minimize white mineral dust (calcium deposits) on surfaces and extend the life of the filter.

If using tap water and white dust occurs:

  1. Try using a demineralization cartridge (if compatible with your model).
  2. Clean the unit more frequently as described in the cleaning section.
  3. Consider using a water softener if you have very hard water.

Safety Features

Auto Shut-Off: Turns the unit off when the water tank is empty or improperly positioned.

Tip-Over Protection: Some models may include a switch that turns the unit off if it is knocked over.

Over-Humidification Prevention: The humidistat helps prevent the room from becoming overly humid, which can encourage mold growth.
