Installation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Installation requires basic HVAC and plumbing skills.

  1. Choose Location: Install on the warm air (supply) duct of the furnace, near the cold air return.
  2. Mount Cabinet: Cut opening in duct; secure cabinet with provided screws.
  3. Install Bypass Damper: Connect duct between supply plenum and humidifier.
  4. Connect Water Supply: Install saddle valve on cold water line; connect tubing to humidifier.
  5. Connect Drain: Attach drain tube to humidifier and route to floor drain or condensate pump.
  6. Wire Control: Connect 24V wires from humidistat to furnace control board or transformer.

WARNING! Turn off power to furnace and shut off main water supply before installation. Follow all local plumbing and electrical codes.

First-Time Setup

After installation, power on and configure the humidistat.

  1. Set Humidity Level: Turn knob or press buttons to set desired relative humidity (typically 35-45%).
  2. Select Mode: Choose ON (continuous) or AUTO (controlled by humidistat).
  3. Initiate Test Cycle: Press TEST button to verify water flow and fan operation.
  4. Check Drainage: Ensure water flows to drain and does not leak.
  5. Monitor: Allow system to run through several heating cycles to ensure proper operation.

CAUTION! Do not set humidity too high in cold weather to prevent condensation on windows.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access settings via the Digital Humidistat Control mounted on the return air duct or in a living area.

Control Panel: POWER Indicator, HUMIDITY SET Knob/Buttons, MODE Button (OFF/ON/AUTO), TEST Button, SERVICE Indicator.

Humidity Setting: Adjust from 15% to 45% relative humidity. Mode: OFF (no operation), ON (continuous operation when furnace fan runs), AUTO (humidistat controls operation based on set point and outdoor temperature). Test: Initiates a 1-minute cycle to check solenoid valve and water flow. Service Light: Illuminates when water panel needs replacement.

Connecting to HVAC System

Bypass duct connects supply plenum to humidifier inlet. Humidifier outlet connects to return duct.

  1. Ensure furnace is off.
  2. Install bypass damper in supply plenum (includes adjustable damper to control airflow).
  3. Connect flexible duct between damper and humidifier cabinet.
  4. Ensure all duct connections are sealed with foil tape.
  5. Humidifier must be lower than the bypass damper to allow proper condensate drainage.

Tip: The bypass damper should be installed at least 18 inches above the humidifier.

Operation and Maintenance

Operates automatically when furnace fan runs and humidistat calls for humidity.

  1. Automatic Cycle: Humidistat senses low humidity, opens water valve, and furnace fan draws air through wet panel.
  2. Water Flow: Water flows over evaporator panel; excess water and minerals flush down drain.
  3. Seasonal Startup: At beginning of heating season, check operation, replace water panel if needed.
  4. Seasonal Shutdown: At end of season, turn off water supply, set control to OFF, and clean if necessary.
  5. Monthly Check: Inspect drain line for clogs and ensure proper water flow.

WARNING! Always turn off water supply and power before performing any maintenance.

Water Panel Replacement

Replace the evaporator water panel at least once per heating season, or when SERVICE light is on.

  1. Turn off water supply and power to furnace.
  2. Open humidifier cabinet (slide latches or remove screws).
  3. Remove old water panel and discard.
  4. Insert new Honeywell HE200A water panel, ensuring it sits properly in the tray.
  5. Close cabinet and restore power and water.
  6. Press TEST button to run a cycle and wet the new panel.
  7. Reset SERVICE light if applicable (consult manual for reset procedure).

Note: Use only genuine Honeywell replacement panels for optimal performance.

Care & Cleaning

Annual cleaning helps prevent mineral buildup and ensures efficiency.

  1. Shut off water and power.
  2. Remove water panel and clean interior cabinet with a soft brush and vinegar solution to remove scale.
  3. Flush drain tube with water to clear debris.
  4. Inspect saddle valve and water line for leaks.
  5. Reinstall a new water panel.

CAUTION! Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives. Ensure all parts are dry before reassembly.
