Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure proper tools and materials are available.

  1. Choose location: Install on warm air duct (supply plenum) of HVAC system.
  2. Mount humidifier: Cut opening in duct, secure unit with provided screws.
  3. Connect water supply: Install saddle valve on cold water line, connect tubing.
  4. Connect drain: Attach drain hose to unit and route to floor drain or condensate pump.
  5. Wire control: Connect humidistat to unit and 24V transformer (usually to furnace).
  6. Install bypass duct: Connect between supply and return plenums if required.

WARNING! Turn off power to HVAC system before installation. Follow local plumbing and electrical codes.

First-Time Setup

After installation, power on system and configure settings.

  1. Set humidity level: Adjust humidistat to desired setting (typically 35-45% RH).
  2. Test operation: Turn on furnace; check for water flow and proper drainage.
  3. Calibrate if needed: Compare humidistat reading with calibrated hygrometer.
  4. Set seasonal control: Adjust for outdoor temperature if unit has automatic adjustment.

CAUTION! Do not set humidity too high in cold weather to prevent window condensation.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Digital Humidistat: ON/OFF, Humidity setpoint, Fan activation control, Indicator lights.

Control Panel: Power button, Up/Down arrows for humidity setting, Mode selection, Reset button.

Settings: Humidity level (20-60% RH), Fan control (continuous or intermittent), Outdoor temperature input (if equipped), System test function. Indicator lights: Power (green), Call for humidity (yellow), Change water panel (red), Service required (flashing).

Connecting to HVAC System

Bypass installation: Requires connections to both supply and return ducts.

  1. Turn off HVAC system power.
  2. Install unit on warm air supply plenum.
  3. Connect bypass duct from unit to return air plenum.
  4. Ensure dampers are properly oriented for air flow.
  5. Connect control wires to furnace control board or transformer.

Tip: Ensure bypass duct slopes downward toward humidifier for proper condensate drainage.

Operation and Maintenance

System operates automatically when furnace runs and humidity is below setpoint.

  1. Normal operation: Unit activates when furnace blower runs and humidity is low.
  2. Water panel replacement: Replace annually or when indicator light comes on.
  3. Cleaning: Clean unit interior at beginning of each heating season.
  4. Drain check: Ensure drain hose is clear and flowing properly.
  5. Water supply: Check saddle valve for leaks annually.
  6. Seasonal adjustment: Reduce humidity setting as outdoor temperature drops.

WARNING! Always turn off water supply before servicing. Disconnect power before cleaning.

Seasonal Shutdown

At end of heating season, prepare unit for storage.

  1. Turn off water supply at saddle valve.
  2. Disconnect power to humidifier.
  3. Remove and discard water panel.
  4. Drain any remaining water from unit and tubing.
  5. Clean unit interior and drain tray.
  6. Close bypass damper if manually adjustable.

Note: Leave unit dry and open for summer to prevent mold growth.

Care & Cleaning

Annual cleaning recommended before heating season.

  1. Remove access panel and water panel.
  2. Clean interior surfaces with vinegar solution to remove mineral deposits.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  4. Clean drain hose and ensure proper flow.
  5. Check water distribution tray for clogs.
  6. Install new water panel.

CAUTION! Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives. Wear gloves when handling cleaning solutions.
